Stainless Steel 304🔗︎
Austenitic Stainless Steel. Due to the combination of a number of very favorable properties, this type of stainless steel is widely used. Well-known applications: household appliances, machinery in the dairy and food industry, sinks and countertops.
Characteristics:
- In annealed condition, the material is well deformable (bending, deep drawing, forcing, etc.).
- Corrosion resistance: good
- Thermal conductivity: poor
- Machinability: moderate depending on 1D or 2B type
- Weldable: Good. Depends on thickness and welding process
Appearance:
- Untreated smooth surface (2B)
- Polished surface with film on one side (320-grit)
- Untreated rough surface (1D)
Stainless Steel 304 foil🔗︎
A stainless steel 304 sheet with a ground surface (Grain 320) coated with a film layer. Known applications: designer parts, household appliances, sinks and countertops.
Characteristics:
- Suitable for visual applications: very good
- Film: single-sided
- Bend and set quality: good
- Weldable: good
Appearance:
- Ground surface (Grain 320).
Stainless Steel 316🔗︎
Austenitic Stainless Steel. Stainless Steel 316 consists of 16% chromium and 10% nickel, supplemented by 2% molybdenum. Its higher nickel percentage and the addition of 2% molybdenum make it more resistant to chlorides and corrosion than Stainless Steel 304. Known application: In the food industry, dairy industry but also in marine environments, swimming pools and architecture.
Characteristics:
- Bending and setting quality : good
- Formability: good
- Polishability: good
- Corrosion resistance: good
- Toughness properties: good
- Machinability: moderate to poor
- Quality after welding: less prone to intergranular corrosion
Appearance:
- Untreated smooth surface (2B)
- Untreated rough surface (1D)

Corten steel🔗︎
Cortensteel is a type of steel characterised by its brown rust colour. This type of steel offers good resistance to corrosion. Corten's weather resistance is created by a very dense oxide skin. This layer, the patina, protects the deeper base material from (further) corrosion. Corten steel is often used by architects and artists. In addition, this type of steel is often used in such applications as: cladding, works of art or in planters and border edges in gardens. Type available in the portal: CorTen A
Characteristics:
- Kerf toughness: good
- Machinability: good
- Bending and setting quality: good
- Weldability: good
Appearance:
- Rusted surface (parting layer)
- Untreated rough surface
DC01🔗︎
This cold-rolled strip and sheet steel has consistent quality and high sharpness tolerances. Thus it fully meets modern requirements for automated processing. Known applications: In the automotive and consumer goods industries. And also in products, such as steel furniture and (partition) walls, stoves and fireplaces, reflectors, ceiling systems and agricultural machinery.
Characteristics:
- Weldability : good
- Bend and set quality : good
- Ductility: good
Appearance:
- Stained and oiled surface
S235🔗︎
Structural steel plate S235 is a common carbon structural steel that can be used in a very wide range of manufacturing processes.
Characteristics:
- Kerf toughness: high
- Machinability: reasonable
- Bending and setting quality: fairly good
- Ductility: fair
- Weldability: good
- Galvanizing: thermal with smooth and shiny zinc coating
Appearance:
- Stained and oiled surface
- Untreated rough surface
- Untreated surface, black mill scale
S355🔗︎
S355 is similar to S235, but features a higher yield strength. This increased yield strength gives the steel additional tensile strength (forces the structure/material can tolerate to the maximum extent before unwanted deformation occurs).
Appearance:
- Stained and oiled surface.
- Untreated rough surface
- Untreated surface, black mill scale
S700🔗︎
S700 steel offers excellent strength properties, making it suitable for applications requiring high loads and strength. It is often used in structural applications such as in the construction of machinery, vehicles and crane structures.
Characteristics:
- Ductility: good
- Weldability: good
- Kerf toughness: high
Appearance:
- Untreated rough surface
- Untreated surface, black mill scale
Sendzimir DX51D+Z275🔗︎
This Sendzimir galvanized sheet steel has an even glossy appearance. The zinc coating comes in a wide range of thicknesses. The material is widely applicable: in the automotive industry, air treatment plants, household appliances and as a base material for prepainted strip and sheet steel.
Appearance:
- Smooth surface, hot-dip galvanized (layer thickness 275 g/m2)
